Location: Mount Washington Valley Career & Technical Center (MWVCTC)

Position Overview

The Mount Washington Valley Career & Technical Center is seeking an enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and student-centered Part-Time Criminal Justice Teacher to provide high school students with an engaging introduction to careers and practices within the criminal justice field.

The ideal candidate will bring professional knowledge, practical experience, and a commitment to helping young people develop the technical, academic, and employability skills needed for success in college, careers, public service, and the workplace.

This position offers an exciting opportunity for a criminal justice professional to bring real-world experience into the classroom while helping students explore careers in law enforcement, corrections, courts, emergency services, investigations, and related fields.

• Plan and deliver engaging, hands-on instruction aligned with the goals and competencies of the MWVCTC Criminal Justice program.

• Introduce students to major components of the criminal justice system, including law enforcement, courts, corrections, and related public safety careers.

• Provide instruction in areas such as criminal and constitutional law, ethics, communication, investigative procedures, crime scene fundamentals, report writing, conflict resolution, and professional conduct.

• Create authentic learning experiences through simulations, scenarios, demonstrations, case studies, projects, and problem-solving activities.

• Emphasize the safe, ethical, legal, and responsible application of criminal justice practices.

• Incorporate workplace expectations and employability skills, including communication, collaboration, professionalism, responsibility, problem-solving, and leadership.

• Use a variety of formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress and provide meaningful feedback.

• Establish a positive, structured, inclusive, and respectful classroom environment.

• Maintain appropriate records of student attendance, performance, and progress.

• Collaborate with MWVCTC faculty, staff, school counselors, administrators, and other educators to support student success.

• Develop relationships with local law enforcement agencies, courts, corrections professionals, first responders, colleges, and other community partners to enhance student learning.

• Coordinate opportunities for guest speakers, demonstrations, field experiences, job shadows, and other career-connected learning experiences when appropriate.

• Encourage students to explore postsecondary education, training, military, public service, and employment opportunities related to criminal justice.

• Participate in appropriate professional development, program planning, and Career & Technical Education activities.

Preferred Qualifications

The successful candidate should possess a combination of professional experience, content knowledge, and an ability to connect effectively with high school students.

• Professional experience in criminal justice, law enforcement, corrections, courts, investigations, public safety, legal services, or a closely related field.

• Associate's or bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement, Public Safety, or a related field preferred.

• Relevant industry certifications, training, or specialized professional experience are highly valued.

• Previous teaching, training, mentoring, coaching, or youth-development experience is preferred but not required.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to translate professional knowledge and experience into engaging, age-appropriate learning experiences.

• Ability to establish positive relationships with students while maintaining clear expectations and professional boundaries.

• Commitment to working collaboratively with colleagues, families, community partners, and industry professionals.

• Willingness to meet applicable New Hampshire Career & Technical Education educator certification or credentialing requirements.

WORK YEAR: 187 day / school year position - .5 FTE

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Conway School Board’s policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel. The principal and/or administrative designee will be the evaluator.
