Title: Social Studies Teacher
Reports to: Building Principal
Terms of Employment: Full-Time/Up to 185 days
FLSA Classification: Exempt
Minimum qualifications: Bachelor's degree (in a physical science) and hold a NH Educator Certification or be eligible for a site-based learning plan, as demonstrated by a statement of eligibility.
Job Goals: The social studies teacher maintains an advanced mastery of historical, geographical, and civic content, effectively designing inquiry-based lessons that challenge students to analyze primary sources and diverse perspectives. Through the use of document-based questions and evidence-based writing, the teacher assesses mastery of critical thinking skills and monitors each student's ability to synthesize complex societal information. By fostering a classroom culture rooted in civil discourse, the teacher establishes a positive environment where students practice informed citizenship and clear, respectful communication. Furthermore, the teacher employs specialized instructional techniquessuch as simulations and archival researchwhile continually refining strategies to improve student engagement and managing a collaborative, structured learning environment. Finally, the teacher fulfills all professional responsibilities, contributing to school-level goals by promoting literacy across the social sciences and supporting policies that cultivate a globally aware and civically engaged student body.
