What are the responsibilities and job description for the Social Studies Long Term Teacher Substitute position at School Administrative Unit 6?
SUMMARY OF POSITION
The long-term substitute Social Studies teacher will provide high-quality instruction to high school students, following the curriculum and plans left by the regular teacher. This role supports student engagement, fosters a positive learning environment, and ensures that students are progressing toward meeting state standards in Social Studies.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Follow lesson plans and teaching outlines using the teachers plans that were left.
- To encourage all students to be actively engaged in their own learning and in reviewing their progress towards meeting state standards.
- Utilize a variety of instructional materials and aids appropriate to the intellectual and instructional level of students.
- Counsel, confer with, and communicate with parents and school/district personnel regarding student’s progress.
- Perform the created curriculum and instructional development activities left by the teacher
- To keep work areas tidy and organized to promote safety in the laboratory.
- To attend scheduled meetings in the chool.
Minimum license required for this position: candidates must hold a valid NH Teaching Certification
- Experience using G Suite software such as Gmail, Google Drive, Google Docs, etc.
- Strong knowledge of Social Studies and History content preferred.
- Previous teaching experience in Social Studies is preferred but not required.
