The Behavior Technician (BT) provides student assistance for students 3 to 22 years of age under the professional guidance and supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). The Behavior Technician (BT) provides direct behavioral support services to students with disabilities in a school setting. The BT implements behavior intervention plans (BIPs) and supports students in achieving their educational and developmental goals. Responsibilities may include one student or multiple students as assigned.
Education, Training, Skills, Experience, & Licensure Requirements: NH Paraeducator I or II certification or eligibility for certification Experience as a Behavior Technician (BT) required.Experience working with children with autism and other developmental disabilities preferred in a school setting.Strong understanding of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) principles.Ability to remain patient, flexible, and responsive in a school environment.Requires knowledge in the areas of reading, writing, mathematics, behavior management, life skills, and educational professionalism to assist student instruction as specified in the state professional educator certification. Student Support & InstructionWork directly with students in classroom settings, special education programs, or pull-out intervention sessions.Support students in developing social, communication, and self-management skills.Reinforce academic tasks and classroom routines as directed by the teacher and BCBA.Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation support when necessary.3. Collaboration & CommunicationWork closely with teachers, special education staff, counselors, and other school personnel to ensure consistent implementation of behavior strategies.Communicate regularly with the BCBA regarding student progress, challenges, and adjustments needed for behavior plans.Participate in team meetings, Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings, and professional development sessions.4. Documentation & ComplianceMaintain accurate and timely data collection on student behaviors, interventions, and progress.Complete session notes, reports, and required documentation in accordance with school and ABA guidelines.Follow ethical and legal guidelines as outlined by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) and school policies. 3.
