Part-Time Public Relations & Communications Specialist (.25 FTE)
Position Summary
We are seeking a creative, organized, and detail-oriented Part-Time Public Relations & Communications Specialist to support our organization’s internal and external communications efforts. This role is responsible for developing content, managing media relations, supporting brand messaging, and helping maintain a positive public image across multiple communication channels.
The ideal candidate is a strong writer and communicator who can manage multiple projects, work independently, and collaborate effectively with team members and external stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field preferred
- 2 years of experience in public relations, communications, marketing, or media relations
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Strong editing and proofreading abilities
- Experience with social media platforms and content management tools
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
- Proficiency in Google Workspace, and experience working on/ updated webpages
- Experience with graphic design or email marketing tools is a plus
- Maine Department of Education Criminal History Record Check certificate eligibility required
Duties and Responsibilities
- Draft and distribute press releases, media advisories, newsletters, and public statements
- Assist with media outreach and maintain relationships with local and industry media contacts
- Create and edit content for websites, blogs, social media, and marketing materials
- Support communication campaigns and public relations initiatives
- Monitor media coverage and prepare reports on communication performance and engagement
- Help maintain brand consistency across all communications platforms
- Assist with internal communications and staff announcements as needed
- Manage communication calendars and deadlines
- Respond to public inquiries and support community engagement efforts
- Strong storytelling and content creation abilities
Compensation & Benefits
