What are the responsibilities and job description for the Logistics Specialist position at Schonbek?
Schonbek, a premium lighting brand and a member of WAC Lighting in Plattsburgh, NY, is looking for a Logistics Specialist. The Logistics Specialist will coordinate all domestic and international outbound shipments. This position reports to the Customer Service Supervisor and is a full-time, onsite position.
Main Duties
Manage shipments to customers to ensure the best shipping methods, in the most cost-effective way, maximizing shipment dollar output.
Ensure all shipments meet regulatory requirements and are in compliance.
Coordinate with production on the timing of missing items for ship complete orders.
Monitor shipments and prepare necessary documentation, and coordinate shipments to required regions of the world.
Keeps required records relating to transportation and logistics systems.
Coordinate re-routes and recalls.
Collaborate with IT to develop new processes and tools to meet objectives.
Establish and maintain logistic standard operating procedures (to include writing work instructions).
Perform timely auditing of all required documentation, including classification, valuation, and complete documentation audits to ensure compliance and accuracy. Challenges and settles claims with carriers in a timely manner.
Source documents for the receiving department, as needed.
Obtain proof of payment to vendors and proof of receipts and ensure that Customs documents match internal systems; if overages are found, work with the brokers to report any overages to US Customs and submit additional duties owed to Customs as needed.
Monitor and assure timely completion and accuracy of ISF (Importer Security Filing) through different forwarding companies, where applicable.
Shop for the best price regarding freight and brokerage services, finding optimal cost and delivery options.
Validate and approve brokerage, freight forwarder, UPS Small Package bills, and US Customs monthly statements, and ensure timely credits for incorrect billings.
Administrator of all freight carrier and brokerage accounts.
Monitor service levels of brokers and freight carriers.
Responsible for all outbound domestic and international shipments.
Assist with Customer Service duties as needed.
Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Associate's Degree Preferred, High School Diploma Required
5-7 Years Experience
International Experience
Excellent Verbal and Written Communication
Proficient in Microsoft Office
FTZ (Foreign Trade Zone) Knowledge a Plus
