The Associate Director of Special Education supports the implementation and day-to-day operation of Scholarship Prep's Special Education program across all campuses. Reporting to the Senior Director of Special Education, this role oversees program implementation, compliance, case management, and professional learning while ensuring schools receive responsive, consistent, and high-quality support.

The Associate Director partners closely with school leaders, Coordinators, Education Specialists, and Related Service Providers to strengthen instructional practices, build staff capacity, monitor compliance, and ensure students with disabilities receive high-quality educational services aligned with IDEA, California law, and Scholarship Prep's mission.

This position would support all 5 Southern California campuses.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Program Operations

  • Lead the day-to-day implementation of the Special Education program across campuses.
  • Ensure consistent execution of organizational systems, procedures, and timelines.
  • Coordinate department calendars, compliance activities, and major initiatives.
  • Support staffing assignments, caseloads, and service delivery.
  • Monitor implementation and address operational challenges.

Compliance & Case Management

  • Oversee compliance with IDEA, California Education Code, and SELPA requirements.
  • Review IEPs, assessments, timelines, and documentation for quality and compliance.
  • Support complex IEPs, manifestation determinations, and placement decisions.
  • Assist with due process, complaints, corrective actions, and compliance concerns.
  • Ensure schools resolve issues before they become findings.

Leadership & Professional Development

  • Supervise and support Special Education Coordinators.
  • Coach school teams on effective Special Education practices.
  • Lead professional development for Education Specialists and administrators.
  • Develop guidance documents, templates, and implementation resources.
  • Build staff capacity through ongoing coaching and support.

Data & Continuous Improvement

  • Monitor compliance data, service delivery, and student outcomes.
  • Analyze trends and recommend program improvements.
  • Support state reporting, audits, and monitoring activities.
  • Maintain dashboards that measure organizational performance.
  • Promote consistent implementation of best practices across campuses.

School Partnership & Family Support

  • Partner with principals to address complex student and program needs.
  • Support family meetings and collaborative problem-solving.
  • Coordinate with outside agencies and related service providers.
  • Provide consultation on challenging student cases.
  • Strengthen communication between schools, families, and the Home Office.

Organizational Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate knowledge of and support Scholarship Prep's mission, vision, values, policies, and procedures.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student and personnel information.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Valid California Education Specialist Credential required.
  • Administrative Services Credential preferred.
  • Minimum five (5) years of successful experience in special education.
  • Experience serving as an IEP case manager.
  • Strong knowledge of IDEA, California Special Education law, and SELPA procedures.
  • Experience coaching adults or leading professional development preferred.
  • Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $115,000.00 - $140,000.00 per year

Salary : $115,000 - $140,000
