English Teacher - Middle School (Grades 6 - 8)

Schoharie Central School District has an anticipated probationary opening for a full-time Middle School English Teacher (Grades 6-8) beginning on September 1, 2026.

The successful candidate will provide engaging, standards-based English Language Arts instruction for students in Grades 6-8 that develops reading, writing, speaking, listening, research, and critical thinking skills while supporting the academic, social, and emotional growth of young adolescents. The selected candidate will foster a classroom culture where students are encouraged to think critically, communicate effectively, appreciate diverse perspectives, and develop a lifelong love of reading and learning. Through meaningful instruction, authentic learning experiences, and strong relationships, the successful candidate will create a safe, welcoming, and inclusive classroom where every student feels valued, challenged, and supported in reaching their full potential.

• Knowledge of current instructional best practices, adolescent literacy, and the New York State Learning Standards for English Language Arts.

• The ability to design engaging instruction that strengthens students' reading, writing, speaking, listening, research, and analytical skills through authentic and relevant learning experiences.

• A collaborative mindset and willingness to work as an active member of a professional learning community while contributing to curriculum development and continuous instructional improvement.

Salary according to the Schoharie Teachers Association Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Candidates must possess and maintain the appropriate New York State certifications in English Language Arts (or the equivalent).
