Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and knowledgeable Heavy Equipment Fleet Mechanic to join our maintenance team. In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a diverse fleet of heavy machinery and industrial equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety. Your expertise will help keep our operations running smoothly, supporting construction, and industrial projects. Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive diagnostics and repairs on heavy equipment including excavators, cranes, forklifts, tractors, trailers, crushers, and other industrial machinery.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance to extend equipment lifespan and prevent breakdowns.
  • Utilize OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) manuals, schematics, and electronic diagnostic tools to accurately identify issues.
  • Repair and replace hydraulic systems, transmissions, brakes, suspensions, air brakes, and electrical components.
  • Fabricate parts or modify equipment as needed using welding, soldering, hand tools, power tools, and fabrication techniques.
  • Conduct alignments, tire services, wheel balancing, and heavy lifting to ensure equipment safety and efficiency.
  • Maintain detailed service records, logs, and reports for all repairs performed.
  • Assist with heavy equipment operation during maintenance or troubleshooting tasks when required.
  • Respond to breakdowns and perform field repairs as needed
  • Identify potential issues early and recommend corrective action to prevent equipment failures
  • Order parts, maintain/organize tools and parts storage, and assist with yard organization/operations
  • Work outdoors regularly, with access to an enclosed shop for extended repairs
  • Diagnose Tier 3 and Tier 4 interim and Tier 4 final emissions systems.
  • Remove, repair, and install major heavy equipment components in varying configurations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Experience

  • 8 years maintenance experience servicing and repairing trucks and heavy construction equipment, including loaders, skid steers, bulldozers, excavators, and backhoes. As well as crushing and screening plants
  • Significant experience with and ability to work on several makes and models of equipment, especially Caterpillar, Komatsu, John Deere, and Peterbuilt
  • Dealership experience is preferred for familiarity with OEM parts and repair procedures.
  • Ability to prioritize effectively, work independently, manage time, multitask, and handle stress
  • Strong knowledge of diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, electrical systems, HVAC systems in industrial equipment.
  • Skilled in reading schematics and using diagnostic software to troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical issues.
  • Experience with welding, fabrication, assembly of mechanical components and heavy equipment repair is prefered.
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while maintaining attention to detail during repairs.

Requirements

  • Excellent customer service skills to communicate effectively with team members and clients regarding repair status or technical issues.
  • Highly effective communicator with the ability to interact professionally with vendors, customers, coworkers, and leadership.
  • CDL Class B endorsement or higher
  • Willingness and ability to adapt to scheduling needs, including primarily day shift hours (usually between 7 AM and 6 PM), overtime, and possible weekends
  • Ability to pass pre- and post-employment drug screening and work history verification.
  • Ability to communicate in English (Spanish is a plus )with co-workers and the general public.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Predominantly outdoor work in varying weather conditions
  • Regular travel between job sites and yard in company provided service truck

Salary : $120,000 - $160,000
