Job Summary
The Purchasing Manager leads buying and supplier activities for operations and product programs. This role negotiates contracts, manages suppliers, ensures compliance with defense regulations, and works with internal teams to meet cost, quality, and delivery goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop sourcing strategies for materials, components, and services
- Manage the full purchasing process (from request to contract and supplier performance)
- Negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery timelines
- Track performance metrics (cost, delivery, quality)
- Build and manage supplier relationships and performance
- Ensure compliance with regulations (FAR, DFARS, ITAR)
- Support new product launches and sourcing decisions
- Identify and reduce supply chain risks
- Partner with legal and engineering on contracts
- Drive cost savings and process improvements
- Prepare for audits and inspections
- Lead and develop procurement team (if applicable)
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience)
- 6 years in procurement, with 3 years in a leadership role
- Experience with defense contracts and regulations (FAR/DFARS/ITAR)
- Strong skills in sourcing, negotiation, and supplier management
- Experience supporting new product development
- Strong communication and analytical skills
- Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., Oracle, SAP)
- Ability to manage risk and handle multiple priorities
Preferred
- Professional certification (CPSM, CPPO, CSCP)
Rate: $65/hr
