Schneider Water Services – St. Paul, OR is looking for a heavy equipment mechanic for a year round full time position. Work consists of maintenance of hydraulic, gas, diesel, electric & air systems. Some fabrication. Must be a self-starter, motivated, and hands on type of person. Basic computer, organization, and record keeping experience preferred.
DUTIES:
* Conduct vehicle/equipment inspections and diagnostic tests; identify & resolve worn, broken or damaged parts.
* Strong knowledge in hydraulics with troubleshooting experience.
* Verify vehicle performance by conducting test drives; adjust controls and systems.
*Identify mechanic, hydraulic and electrical system problems and consider possible solutions, resolve problems
* Maintain vehicles/equipment using preventive maintenance; install component and part upgrades; control corrosion; complete winterization.
* Correct vehicle/equipment deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, parts, or systems. Such as, power and drive trains, electrical, air conditioning, fuel, emission, brake, steering, and hydraulics.
* Maintain vehicle/equipment records; annotating services and repairs using a computerized system.
* Maintain shop equipment per operating instructions; troubleshooting and repairing or coordinate repairs; maintaining supplies.
* Contains costs by evaluating service, repair and parts options.
* Update knowledge through continuing education opportunities and technical and regulatory publications.
* Enhance maintenance department and organization reputation by promptly accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests. Explore opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
Skills/Qualifications :
Must be 21 years of age or older
Must have a valid driver’s license (CDL preferred or the ability to obtain one required) and a good driving record
Must have a DOT medical card (or ability to obtain one)
Must have own set of hand tools
Must be willing to travel (approximately 10% of the time)
Experience required:
A degree in mechanic related field and minimum 2 years’ experience
OR
4 years’ experience without a formal degree
