Schneider’s Seafood Meats, a locally owned Buffalo food distributor with more than 100 years in business, is seeking an experienced Transportation, Logistics & Operations Manager.

Transportation and logistics are the primary focus of this position. You’ll become ownership’s go-to person for OTR transportation, drivers, freight booking, and logistical issues while providing overall oversight of our warehouse operation.

You’ll work directly with ownership and be supported by experienced warehouse department heads who manage their respective areas, allowing you to focus on leadership, coordination, and improving the overall operation.

Transportation & Logistics – Primary Focus

• Manage our two company-owned OTR tractor trailers and drivers making frequent trips between Buffalo and New England.
• Coordinate driver schedules, seafood pickups, deliveries, and trip timing.
• Work with freight brokers to book outbound loads from Buffalo to New England, maximizing truck utilization and transportation revenue.
• Coordinate outbound freight with our New England seafood pickups to keep trucks moving efficiently.
• Resolve breakdowns, delays, scheduling conflicts, missed pickups, and other transportation issues.
• Oversee fleet maintenance, repairs, inspections, and outside service providers.
• Improve routing, truck utilization, transportation efficiency, and costs.
• Handle occasional after-hours driver or time-sensitive logistical issues.

Warehouse & Operations Oversight

• Provide overall leadership of warehouse operations with the support of experienced department heads.
• Ensure receiving, inventory, picking, staging, loading, and shipping are coordinated and running efficiently.
• Work with department heads on staffing, productivity, accuracy, safety, cleanliness, and accountability.
• Assist with local delivery routing, fleet coordination, hiring, onboarding, and employee development.
• Oversee general facility and equipment needs.

What We’re Looking For

• 5 years of relevant experience in transportation, logistics, distribution, warehouse operations, or a combination of these areas.
• Previous management or supervisory experience.
• Experience managing CDL/OTR drivers and tractor-trailer operations strongly preferred.
• Experience working with freight brokers and booking loads is highly desirable.
• Strong leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
• Refrigerated transportation, food distribution, seafood, meat, or other perishable-product experience is a plus.

Compensation & Benefits

• $90,000–$100,000 base salary, based on experience
• Freight-booking commission averaging approximately $12,000–$15,000 annually based on current activity
• $4,000 annual employer contribution toward health insurance when coverage is elected
• SIMPLE IRA with 3% employer contribution after 90 days

Schedule / Hours

• Monday–Friday: 6:30 a.m.–3:00 p.m.
• Lunch: 12:00–1:00 p.m.
• Saturday: 7:00 a.m.–11:00 a.m. on a rotational basis — not every Saturday
• Occasional after-hours availability for transportation issues

This is a full-time, on-site position in Cheektowaga, NY.
