You’ll work closely with customers, contractors, consultants, project managers, and engineering teams while helping deliver high-quality, construction-ready controls solutions.

What will you do?

  • Serve as the lead controls design engineer on medium to large BAS/BMS projects.

  • Support projects throughout design, construction, and execution.
  • Review and incorporate project changes and change orders into engineering packages.
  • Identify issues or deficiencies in contract drawings and drive resolution through RFIs and coordination with customers, consultants, and trades.
  • Attend customer, contractor, consultant, and project coordination meetings and independently manage engineering action items.
  • Participate in sales-to-operations turnover meetings and represent the engineering team.
  • Apply HVAC best practices and ASHRAE standards when developing control system designs.
  • Identify value engineering opportunities and alternate technical solutions that improve cost, constructability, and system performance.
  • Coordinate with BIM teams and support controls activities within BIM models.
  • Conduct site audits and field walkthroughs and translate findings into construction-ready designs and submittals.
  • Utilize engineering tools such as AutoCAD, Microsoft Visio, Design 360, Prometheus, and other applicable applications.
  • Manage multiple active projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.

What will make you successful?

Required Qualifications

  • 3 years of experience in Building Automation Systems (BAS), Building Management Systems (BMS), Automatic Temperature Controls (ATC), HVAC controls, or commercial building controls.
  • Experience supporting controls projects through design, submittals, material selection, construction support, and project execution.
  • Working knowledge of HVAC systems and equipment, including air handlers, chillers, pumps, valves, sensors, actuators, and control devices.
  • Experience developing or reviewing controls drawings, wiring diagrams, control submittals, and engineering documentation.
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and priorities.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with customers, contractors, consultants, project managers, and engineering teams.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working for a building automation, HVAC controls, controls integration, or facility automation organization.
  • Experience with BAS/BMS/DDC systems across the complete project lifecycle.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Microsoft Visio, or similar engineering design tools.
  • Experience supporting healthcare, pharmaceutical, life sciences, data center, mission-critical, commercial, industrial, or institutional facilities.
  • Familiarity with BIM coordination and construction workflows.
  • Working knowledge of ASHRAE standards and HVAC system design principles.
  • Experience serving as a technical lead or supporting and mentoring other engineers.
  • Experience with building automation platforms and protocols such as BACnet, Modbus, Niagara, EcoStruxure Building Operation, or similar technologies.

What’s in it for you?

  • Work on large, technically complex building automation projects.
  • Take ownership of engineering decisions and project solutions.
  • Gain exposure to a variety of facilities, HVAC applications, and BAS/BMS technologies.
  • Collaborate directly with customers, contractors, consultants, and experienced engineering teams.
  • Expand your technical expertise while developing your project leadership capabilities.
  • Opportunity to mentor others and grow within Schneider Electric’s Building Automation organization.
