Position Summary

The Project Operations Manager oversees the company’s project management function and helps ensure construction projects move from scheduling through completion in an organized, timely, and financially responsible manner. This role assigns work to project managers, balances workloads, monitors schedules and budgets, and resolves escalated project, customer, and subcontractor concerns. The position coordinates closely with ownership, office staff, project managers, customers, and subcontracted crews.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

· Lead and hold project managers accountable for the coordination and completion of assigned projects.

· Assign projects based on project type, workload, location, experience, and scheduling needs.

· Monitor project budgets, payments, deductions, timelines, and financial reports.

· Oversee the master project schedule, subcontractor availability, material readiness, and completion timelines.

· Review subcontractor invoices for completed scope, approved rates, deductions, and documented changes.

· Resolve escalated scheduling, scope, workmanship, payment, and communication concerns.

· Ensure project documentation, communication, job closeout, and warranty handoffs are completed consistently.

· Improve project management processes, reporting, communication, and accountability.

· Be available as needed for customer and team member phone calls.

· All other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Yes. This role directly oversees the project management team, including work assignments, priorities, coaching, performance follow-up, and accountability.

Required Qualifications

· Five or more years of construction, project management, or construction operations experience.

· Knowledge of residential construction project flow, scheduling, subcontractor coordination, job costing, and closeout.

· Experience leading project managers, subcontractors, or multiple concurrent construction projects.

· Strong customer service, communication, organization, and conflict-resolution skills.

· Intermediate computer skills and ability to use project, scheduling, and financial systems.

· Valid driver’s license and ability to travel regularly to customer job sites.

Preferred Qualifications

· Education in construction management, business, operations, or a related field.

· Experience managing residential construction completed through subcontractor crews.

Physical Requirements

· Ability to perform computer work, drive between locations, and walk active job sites.

Work Environment

This role is primarily office-based with regular travel to active job sites and exposure to typical construction conditions.

Schedule and Travel Expectations

Generally Monday through Friday and available during the hours of 6:30 am – 5 pm; hours may vary based on project and seasonal needs.

Regular local jobsite travel is required. Occasional early mornings, evenings, weekends, or longer hours may be necessary.

Success Measures

Success is measured by effective project-manager performance, balanced workloads, timely project completion, budget control, accurate invoice review, and customer satisfaction.
