Position Overview:
The Logistics Coordinator has general responsibility for coordinating and overseeing all scheduling with supplier/transport companies to meet the current demand, which they are assigned daily.
As part of the Schmitz team, associates are expected to meet company objectives in the areas of performance, safety, and quality. Associates are expected to comply with all corporate and site-specific policies.
Qualifications:
- This role is responsible for coordinating inbound/outbound shipments
- Working closely with shredding department to optimize scheduling
- Negotiate with transportation companies and 3PLS
- Maintain good relationships with logistics and transport suppliers/customers
- Ensure delivery expectations are met in timely manner
- Communicate with customers on shipments
- Book domestic and international freight
- Coordinate inbound and outbound bookings
- Maintain logistics data entry and related documentation
- Attention to detail and good time management
- Willingness to learn new tasks and functions and new duties as assigned
- Ability to perform duties with minimal supervision or guidance
- Ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with all levels of the organization
- Must be able to effectively adapt to change and thrive in a stimulating, fast-paced work environment
- Issue PO's and receive into system at delivery
- UPS small parcel shipments
- Interact with drivers on daily basis
- Non inventory purchasing
- Bending, Walking and Standing
- Ability to Lift/Carry and Push/Pull 21-50 pounds
- Thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Have the ability to multi-task, detailed oriented, organized, strong problem solving and communication skills
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Proficient in Microsoft Suite
- Seasoned Forklift Driver
- High School Graduate
- At least 3 years of experience in Logistics
