Student Transportation Specialist – Lake Elmo, MN
Join our growing team at Schmitty & Sons! We’re seeking an energetic and detail-oriented Student Transportation Specialist to join our team at our Lake Elmo, MN facility. This full-time position is crucial in supporting the day-to-day operations of our school transportation services.
Schedule:
Monday – Friday, 9:00am - 6:00pm
Location: Lake Elmo, MN
Job Responsibilities
- Ensure smooth and timely daily check-in and dispatch of school bus routes
- Monitor radio communications and coordinate with drivers in real-time
- Respond to service issues including late buses, breakdowns, and emergencies
- Maintain accurate documentation of incidents, accidents, and vehicle service issues
- Assist with route planning, GPS monitoring, and communication of detours or changes
- Serve as the front-line contact for inbound parent, school, and internal communications via phone and email
- Support drivers and school staff with timely, effective, and friendly communication
What We’re Looking For
- Proficient with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Organized and detail-focused with a proactive, can-do attitude
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
- Able to multitask and remain calm under pressure
Other Requirements
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently
- Strong, positive team player with the ability to also work independently
- Must obtain (within 90 days of hire) a Class B CDL with passenger and school bus endorsements and pass a valid DOT physical (training provided)
