Schmitty & Sons is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Parts Manager to join our team at our Burnsville location. This role is essential to keeping our fleet operating efficiently by managing parts inventory and supporting maintenance operations.
Responsibilities
- Order, receive, and manage parts inventory for:
- School buses
- Transit buses
- Mini vans
- Other fleet vehicles
- Maintain accurate inventory records and ensure proper stock levels
- Work closely with maintenance staff to identify parts needs
- Source parts from vendors and negotiate pricing when appropriate
- Track orders and ensure timely delivery
- Organize and maintain a clean and efficient parts room
- Assist with other operational tasks as needed
Additional Duties
- Support transportation operations during driver shortages or peak times
Qualifications
- Previous experience in parts management, inventory control, or automotive/heavy-duty parts preferred
- Knowledge of bus or commercial vehicle parts is a plus
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Basic computer skills for inventory tracking systems
- Valid driver’s license required
- Ability to obtain a CDL with school bus and passenger endorsement (or already have one)
