PRIMARY FUNCTION / POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Supplier Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring that all products and materials received from suppliers meet the Schindler’s quality standards and specifications. The SQE works closely with suppliers, engineering, and procurement teams to resolve quality issues, drive continuous improvement, and ensure compliance with regulatory and company requirements.

Supplier Quality Engineer
Your Main Responsibilities
PRIMARY FUNCTION / POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Supplier Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring that all products and materials received from suppliers meet the Schindler’s quality standards and specifications. The SQE works closely with suppliers, engineering, and procurement teams to resolve quality issues, drive continuous improvement, and ensure compliance with regulatory and company requirements.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Conduct initial and periodic supplier audits to assess quality systems, manufacturing processes, and compliance with company standards.
- Develop and maintain supplier audit schedules and reports.
- Track and analyze supplier performance metrics such as defect rates, delivery reliability, and responsiveness.
- Maintain supplier scorecards and communicate results to suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Identify trends and areas for improvement based on data analysis.
- Investigate and resolve supplier-related quality issues, including non-conformances, defective materials, and process failures.
- Lead root cause analysis using methodologies such as 8D, Fishbone, and Five Whys.
- Coordinate and verify implementation of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Work with suppliers to implement process improvements, reduce waste, and optimize quality.
- Facilitate workshops and training sessions for suppliers on quality tools and best practices.
- Provide technical guidance to suppliers regarding product specifications, quality standards, and testing requirements.
- Collaborate with internal teams (engineering, production, procurement) to resolve technical and quality issues.
- Assess and mitigate risks associated with supplier quality, including supply chain disruptions and compliance failures.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to foster collaboration and continuous improvement.
- Act as the primary point of contact for supplier quality issues and initiatives.
- Bachelor's degree
- ASQ Certified Quality Engineer preferred
- Lean Six Sigma Certification preferred
- Engineering understanding (mechanical and electrical; print reading)
- Supplier Quality Management
- Analytical competency (data mining, problem analysis; strong Excel skills)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Working knowledge of SAP or equivalent
