Role Description
This is a part-time, on-site role located in San Mateo, CA, for a Piano Teacher. The Piano Teacher will provide engaging, one-on-one piano lessons to students of various ages and skill levels, fostering a love for music while helping them develop their technical and theoretical knowledge. Responsibilities include personalizing teaching methods to meet student needs, preparing lesson plans, assessing student progress, and supporting students in preparing for performances, exams, or auditions. The role may also involve occasional participation in school-wide events, such as recitals or workshops.
Qualifications
- Proficiency in Piano Playing and a solid background in Piano technique
- Expertise in Piano Education and Music Education practices
- Strong understanding and application of Music Theory
- Previous experience teaching piano to students of various ages and skill levels
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to work with students and their families
- Ability to commit to an in-person teaching schedule in San Mateo, CA
- Bachelor’s degree in Music or a related field is preferred
- Experience preparing students for performances or music exams such as ABRSM or CM is a plus
