Join an award-winning Library! Schaumburg Township District Library has a great opportunity for a current high school junior, senior or college student. We are looking for two (2) energetic, competent and detail-oriented Teen Place Mentors to join our team. This is a part-time, seasonal position working three (3) hours a week for 10 weeks, from May 27, 2026 through August 5, 2026. The hours for this position are Wednesdays from 4:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m.
The pay range for this position is $15.00/hour to $16.31/hour, based on skills and qualifications.
Position Summary
The Teen Place mentor will assist Teen Librarians with organizing and running teen programs. This includes developing crafts, scavenger hunts, escape rooms, and other programs as assigned. The mentor provides guidance to teen patrons during programs with patience and enthusiasm.

- Communicate effectively in person, over the phone, and in writing with patrons and staff at all site locations.
- Attend meetings and trainings as required or requested.
- Treat all patrons and employees fairly and with an open mind; maintain patron and employee confidentiality.
- Other duties as assigned.
- A current high school junior, senior, or college student
- Computer Skills: Ability to use workplace technology including email, internet, intranet, and Library database systems; and position specific technologies including Zoom, Python, JavaScript, and other programming languages, with some background in Artificial Intelligence.
