Join an award winning Library! The Schaumburg Township District Library is looking for a Adult Services Librarian to join our team. This opportunity offers excellent benefits working 37.5 hours a week, with days, nights and weekends as needed. The position will have desks shifts on Mondays from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm, Tuesdays from 5:00 pm to 9:00pm, and rotating weekends.
The annual salary range for this position is $57,837- $69,400 based on skills and qualifications. Our schedules are based on the needs of the library and could change if and when needed.

Public Service
- Collaborates with Access Services for collection management.
- Assess patrons' needs effectively and efficiently, either in person, over the telephone, virtually, or in writing.
- Stay informed of current trends, emerging technologies, issues, and research in librarianship and allied fields.
- Work with all age groups effectively.
- Serve as ‘Person in Charge’ of the Library in the absence of the Executive Director or Management Team members.
- Develop, coordinate, or participate in Library programs and book discussions.
- Manage and complete special projects as requested.
- Collection:
- Collaborates with Access Services with collection management.
- Maintain working knowledge of the Library’s collections, the online catalog, and the Internet.
- Instruct patrons to use the library’s collections, the online catalog, and the Internet.
- Community:
- Stay informed about the names of officials, organizations, clubs, businesses, schools, social agencies, etc., in the greater Schaumburg area.
- Keep apprised of the offerings of neighboring public and special libraries, their strengths and weaknesses.
- Other Duties:
- Maintain professional involvement in the library science industry.
- Refine or enhance skills by reading professional literature and attending seminars, workshops, and meetings.
- Treat all patrons and employees fairly and with an open mind; maintain patron and employee confidentiality.
- Communicate problems that arise with the Executive Director or designee; address situations where patrons are not following the Patron Code of Conduct.
- Master of Library Science degree (MLS) from an ALA-accredited university or school. Working knowledge of word processes, spreadsheets, and database applications is required.
- Two years of library experience preferred.
