What are the responsibilities and job description for the Custodian position at Schauer Arts Center?
Overview
We are seeking 1 or 2 dedicated and detail-oriented Custodians to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness and order throughout the facility, ensuring a safe and pleasant environment for all employees and patrons.
Responsibilities
- Work schedule will vary and will include some weekends and evenings. 24 hours weekly, may be daytime or evening, plus some weekends.
- Sweep and wet mop hard surface floors
- Vacuum carpet areas
- Complete bathroom cleaning and supply replenishment
- Remove trash from all areas of the building to dumpster
- Clean interior windows
- Dust fixtures and furnishings
- Complete outdoor yard and lawn care as assigned
- Perform light maintenance to include, but not limited to, light bulb replacement, painting, and minor repairs
- Secure building, as needed
- Notify Facility Manager when major repairs are needed
- Work schedule must be flexible and will include some weekends and evenings.
Experience
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Must be able to lift 25 pounds.
- Previous experience in custodial or commercial cleaning roles is preferred but not required.
- Familiarity with custodial equipment and cleaning supplies is a plus.
- Skills in facilities maintenance will be considered an asset.
- A strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently or as part of a team are essential for success in this role.
