Company: Scharf Truck Service LLC / Scharf Transport, Inc.
Location: Oakfield, WI
Job Type: Full-Time (40 hours/week)
Pay: $28.00 – $45.00 / hour (Pay is strictly based on your experience and skill level)
About Us & The Role:
Scharf Transport, Inc. is a small, family-owned business in Oakfield, WI. We operate out of a dedicated 6,000 sq. ft. shop where we exclusively maintain our own in-house fleet. You will spend your time strictly on repairs and maintenance—no customer invoicing, no retail flat-rate pressure, and no fighting for hours.
We are opening our doors to multiple skill levels. Whether you are a highly experienced heavy-duty mechanic who knows Peterbilts inside and out, a technician who prefers to only work on trailers, or someone mechanically inclined who is willing to learn the trade—we want to talk to you. Ultimately, we are looking for someone who will take pride in looking after a well-maintained fleet and keeping it in excellent condition.
Schedule & Compensation Perks:
Flexible Start Times: We are highly flexible and happy to build an 8-hour shift around the start time that works best for you (e.g., 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM, or 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM).
Breaks: Two paid 15-minute breaks per shift, plus a 30–60 minute unpaid lunch.
Overtime: 1.5x pay after 40 hours in a calendar week (OT is available but not required).
Road Calls & After-Hours: 1.5x pay from start to finish, regardless of your weekly hours.
Holidays: Typically off, but paid at 2.0x if called in.
Benefits:
Health, Dental, and Vision Insurance
Paid Time Off (PTO)
Flexible Schedule
Our Fleet:
25 Tractors: Class 8 trucks, 2014–2025 models, primarily Peterbilt with Cummins power.
40 Trailers: All Walker frame and cradle dairy tanks.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities (Depending on your role and experience):
General Shop Duties: Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance (PM and LOF). Maintain accurate records of repairs. Perform exterior washes and tire service as needed. Keep the shop clean, safe, and organized.
Trailer Technician Duties: Perform comprehensive maintenance on Walker dairy tanks. Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair trailer brake systems, ABS, lighting, and running gear. Perform basic welding and fabrication.
Truck Mechanic Duties: Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair Cummins engines, emissions systems, and transmission fault codes. Handle driveline and chassis electrical issues. ABS, lighting, HVAC, air brakes etc.
What We’re Looking For:
A strong work ethic and attention to detail.
Experience in diesel truck OR trailer repair is highly preferred, but we are willing to train the right candidate who is mechanically inclined.
Ability to use diagnostic tools and perform physically demanding tasks.
