The role
As our Export Assistant, you’ll manage the end-to-end export order process for North American and international customers—coordinating documentation, compliance steps, and freight forwarders to keep shipments moving on time.
What you’ll do
- Partner with freight forwarders to secure ocean/air quotes and bookings (FCL/LCL)
- Prepare export documentation (Commercial Invoice, Certificate of Origin, IMO/IATA Dangerous Goods declarations, and other required documents)
- Support international payment workflows (wire transfer, credit card, and letters of credit)
- Coordinate with production and shipping to confirm product readiness and schedule carrier pickup
- Maintain accurate customer files, contacts, and shipping instructions
- Provide general administrative support to the export team and management as needed
Requirements (what you bring)
- Export experience with a working understanding of international shipping processes, documentation, and terminology (PO through delivery)
- Knowledge of export compliance requirements, including Harmonized System (HS) / Schedule B classification
- 49 CFR, IATA, and IMDG certification (must have or obtain within 12 months of hire)
- Proficiency with Excel and Microsoft 365
- Strong written and verbal communication and organizational skills
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and stay focused in a high-demand environment
- Strong detail orientation
Preferred (nice to have)
- Proficient in Shipping Solutions and Oracle NetSuite ERP
