Under the supervision of the Technical Services Manager, the Maintenance Technician is responsible for the processing, repairing, and/or replacing machine parts to allow for continuous and efficient operations in production.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Promotes safety in the workplace by assuring all electrical and mechanical guards and other safety devices are working and in place.
- Analyzes and repairs all manufacturing equipment including, but not limited to, plastic blow molding and ancillary equipment.
- Understands and performs processing on machines to ensure machine efficiency and high quality.
- Performs routine preventive maintenance to ensure that machines continue to run smoothly.
- Uses tools ranging from common hand and power tools to precision measuring instruments and electrical and electronic testing devices.
- Performs complex problem solving using the understanding of electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics and blueprints.
- Promotes quality manufacturing by ensuring the completion of all quality testing and inspections.
- Promotes good teamwork between self and others, ensuring that all Maintenance employees work together harmoniously in support of our production needs.
- Instrumental in development and mentoring of apprentices.
- Teaches and transfers knowledge of mechanical aptitude to others.
- Required to be fully engaged in CMMS asset reliability program and development.
- Actively participates in Scepter’s Safety Programs, such as DuPont STOP audits and reports all near misses and first aid incidents.
- Promote and maintain 6S principles throughout the facility.
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Knowledge in electrical, electronics, pneumatics, hydraulics, and/or reading blueprints required.
- Must be able to operate, understand, and transfer knowledge of all machinery and equipment.
- Strong reading, mathematical, and communication skills required.
- Knowledge of Lockout Tagout practices required.
- Welding experience preferred.
- Employee certification on all Powered Industrial Equipment (PIE) from Scepter is required.
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Minimum of one year’s experience in maintenance in a manufacturing facility required.
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Knowledge in electrical, electronics, pneumatics, hydraulics, and/or reading blueprints required.
- Must be able to operate, understand, and transfer knowledge of all machinery and equipment.
- Strong reading, mathematical, and communication skills required.
- Lock Out/Tag Out certification required.
- Welding experience
- Must own a full set of hand tools and toolbox as required for Scepter work environment.
- Certification on all Powered Industrial Equipment (PIE) from Scepter will be required.
