QUALIFICATIONS:
- Registered nurse licensed and currently registered in the State of Texas
- Graduate from an accredited school of nursing
- 3-5 years' experience in critical or emergency care. Previous experience as Trauma Program Manager preferred
- Current ACLS, PALS, BLS, and TNCC certifications (within 12 months of hire date)
- Additional education/training requirements: TOPIC course, AIS 15, TTDEC, TETAF Hospital Data Management Course, FEMA IS 100, 200, 300, 700 and 800 within 12 months of hire date
- Organizational and communication skills
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinates trauma services by developing, organizing and monitoring the clinical components of the trauma program.
- Maintains the primary responsibilities for the ongoing design and development of the Quality Improvement activities with the leadership of the Medical Director of Trauma service and Emergency Department.
- Serves as liaison with community and Emergency Medical service agencies.
- Participates in Regional Advisory Council and Trauma Service Area activities and programs.
- Serves as a liaison to the Texas Department of Health and other organizations as necessary to facilitate the exchange of information regarding trauma care.
- Demonstrates the ability to communicate with geriatric, adult, adolescent, and pediatric patients.
- Assures compliance with Traum Level designation.
- Ensures compliance with trauma protocols.
TRAUMA PROGRAM MANAGER-JOB DESCRIPTION:
- Develops policies and procedures needed.
- Demonstrates the ability to provide direction in the application of nursing process for trauma patients.
- Assists in developing the trauma care budget.
- Assumes responsibility for professional growth and accountability for practice.
- Assesses educational needs, develops programs, assists in implementing programs and evaluates outcomes.
- Other related duties as assigned or requested.

Membership in professional and clinical specialty associations is encouraged: Emergency Nurses Association (ENA), Texas Trauma Coordinators Forum (TTCF).
