Summary

The individual will provide a wide variety of skilled and semi-skilled building maintenance, repair tasks, and preventative upkeep of buildings, grounds and equipment along with other duties as assigned by Facilities and Projects Manager at various sites. Scenic Bluffs will provide basic tools to perform and complete projects. The Facilities Technician plays a key role in ensuring a safe environment for staff, patients, and visitors while supporting operational continuity and regulatory compliance.

Building and Maintenance Repairs 

  • Perform routine and corrective maintenance of building systems including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, lighting, doors, locks, and general carpentry
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests to ensure minimal disruption to patient care and clinical operations
  • Diagnose and repair minor mechanical, electrical, and structural issues 
  • Assist with preventive maintenance programs for all facility systems and equipment

Clinical & Operational Support

·Support maintenance and setup of clinical and non-clinical spaces, including exam rooms, dental operatories, pharmacy areas, and administrative offices

·Assist with installation, relocation, and removal of furniture, fixtures, and equipment

·Assist and oversee vendors and contractors for specialized repairs and services

·Ensure readiness of spaces for inspections, audits, and accreditation activities

Safety, Compliance & Infection Control

·Maintain a safe environment in accordance with OSHA, life safety, infection control and environmental health standards

·Document and perform routine safety checks and inspections as required (e.g., fire extinguishers, emergency lighting, exits, etc.)

·Assist with emergency preparedness activities, including drills and facility readiness

Grounds & Exterior Maintenance

·Perform basic groundskeeping duties such as snow removal, salting sidewalks, lawn care coordination, trash removal, and exterior inspections

·Maintain parking lots, walkways, signage, and building entrances to ensure patient and staff safety

·Identify and report safety hazards or facility concerns

·Routine filter and cleaning

·Inspections of building roofs to identify any damage, leaks and recommendation of repair solutions

·Participate in relevant training and any certification opportunities as identified by Scenic Bluffs

Emergency & After-Hours Response

·Respond to facility emergencies such as power outages, water leaks, equipment failures, or security concerns

·Occasional scheduled weekend or evening hours support

Inventory, Documentation & Reporting

·Maintain tools, supplies, and maintenance inventory

·Keep accurate records of work orders, preventive maintenance schedules, inspections, and repairs

·Assist with tracking facility assets and equipment

Collaboration & Communication

·Work collaboratively with clinical staff, pharmacy, dental, IT, and administration to support operations

·Communicate maintenance issues, safety concerns, and repair timelines clearly to staff and leadership

·Support organizational initiatives and special projects as assigned

·Promote the mission, vision and values of the organization in all interactions

·Report to work as scheduled

·Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

The individual must respect the confidentiality of patient information while performing job duties and to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, employees and public. The position includes having to meet deadlines, deal effectively with time pressures. Intermediate math skills and legible handwriting is a must. Quality, accuracy, thoroughness, timeliness and reliability of work performed are essential. The individual must have a valid drivers license, be insurable and provide own transportation.  Travel to various locations will be required.

Education and/or Experience

·High school diploma or GED.

·Minimum of 2 years of experience in facilities maintenance, building trades, or a related field.

·Working knowledge of basic building systems (electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry)

·Ability to safely use hand and power tools

·Strong problem-solving and time-management skills

·Ability to follow written and verbal instructions

·Experience in healthcare, clinic, or regulated environments

·Familiarity with workplace safety standards and preventative maintenance programs.

·Work may require sitting or standing for long periods of time; also stooping, bending and stretching

·Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions

·Ability to lift, carry or pull up to 80-100 pounds or more

·Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, telephone, copier and other such equipment

·Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision and ability to adjust to focus
