Summary
The individual will assess, diagnose, treat and/or refer patients in accordance with prevailing standards of medical practice and relevant Wisconsin statutes and Federal regulations.
Duties & Responsibilities
· Perform triage, treatment, and/or referral of patients of the Health Center, during scheduled office hours and on-call hours
· Assess, diagnose, treat, prescribe medication, and/or refer patient in accordance with prevailing standards of medical practice and relevant Wisconsin statues and Federal regulations
· Collaborate with other physicians, mid-level providers, and other clinicians for consultation and/or referral
· Collaborate will other clinical staff and patients in the development of quality improvement standards and clinical protocols
· Document activity in the manner consistent with quality improvement objectives
· Participate in the development of and provision of all orientation training and continuing clinical education for the clinical staff as appropriate and requested
· Provide input in the decision-making process for operation policy, procedures, quality improvement program and strategic planning activities
· Collaborate with the Clinical Director in the organization and direction of clinical support staff
· Contribute to performance appraisals for clinical staff
· Promote and enforce safe work practices, recognize a job well done, and set a good example for other employees
· Speak to civic and other service groups on clinical topics as requested
· Keep current in field through reading appropriate journals, attending educational opportunities and networking with peers
· Maintain appropriate CME for licensure and board certification in WI
· Promote the mission, vision and values of the organization in all interactions
· Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
The individual must respect the confidentiality of patient information while performing job duties and to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, employees and public. The individual must also possess excellent understanding of prevailing standards of medical practice, and the ability to constructively participate in a clinical quality improvement. The position includes having to meet deadlines, deal effectively with time pressures and stress and write reports and correspondence. Intermediate math skills and legible handwriting is a must. Quality, accuracy, thoroughness, timeliness and reliability of work performed are essential. The individual must have a valid driver’s license, be insurable and provide own transportation.
Education and/or Experience
The individual must have earned a Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathy degree, licensure in Wisconsin and be Board Certified or eligible in a primary care specialty, preferably family, internal medicine or something similar. The individual must also have prescribing privileges and be licensed to prescribe prescription drugs. This position requires a current CPR certification
