Objective:
We are seeking a highly skilled and self-reliant AWS Certified Welding Inspector to perform comprehensive inspections of welds in both shop and field settings. The ideal candidate will ensure all welding activities adhere to applicable codes, standards, and procedures, while identifying and reporting any discrepancies to the Quality Assurance Manager. This role demands a detail-oriented professional with deep expertise in welding processes, strong analytical abilities, and the capacity to work independently in dynamic environments.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for adhering to all Company and Project safety programs, policies, and procedures as well as all Federal, State, and local safety codes and regulations.
- Conduct visual and dimensional inspections of welds to ensure compliance with specifications and standards.
- Verify welding procedures, qualifications, and documentation.
- Identify and report welding defects and non-conformances.
- Maintain accurate inspection records and generate detailed reports.
- Collaborate with welders, supervisors, and QA personnel to resolve quality issues.
- Administer welder performance qualification tests.
- Maintain welder continuity logs.
- Travel to field sites as needed for on-site inspections.

Qualifications / Experience / Skills and Attributes:
Certification:
- AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) credential required
Experience & Knowledge:
- Inspection experience must be aligned specifically with AWS D1.1 through D1.6
- Minimum of 3–5 years of welding inspection experience, preferably in both shop and field environments.
- Capable of working with computer applications for generating reports (MS Word, Excel, Procore).
- Strong knowledge of welding codes. This shall include experience with procedure qualification and welder performance qualification with AWS D1.1, D1.3, D1.4, and D1.6.
- Proficiency in visual inspection techniques, as well as familiarity with non-destructive testing (NDT) methods.
- Experience conducting and interpreting results of mechanical tests for welder performance qualification coupons.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, and technical drawings.
- Excellent attention to detail and documentation skills for reporting and record-keeping.
- Capable of working independently with minimal supervision in dynamic and potentially remote environments.
- Excellent critical thinking skills.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and sound judgment in identifying and resolving welding issues.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to field sites as needed.
Preferred:
- Experience mentoring or training junior inspectors or welders.
- Experience as a welder in a shop or field environment.
- Associate’s degree in engineering field related to welding or construction.
Work Schedule / Conditions:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in a warehouse setting.
- Hours: 6am-3pm (MON-FRI)
- Schedule may vary when working in the field and hours will be determined by management based on daylight hours and project needs.
- Work environment will change often and will require consistent awareness to surroundings and potential dangers to themselves and others.

- Ability to lift 50 lbs. with assistance from others or lifting devices from floor to waist and waist to floor.
- Ability to walk, hear, and see in order to reasonably perform essential job functions.
