Head of Engineering / Head of Forward Deployed Engineering
Onsite in New York City
My client is a frontier AI lab building next generation intelligence systems and deploying them into real world environments.
They are assembling a world class team of researchers and engineers from leading AI companies and are now hiring a Head of Engineering / Head of Forward Deployed Engineering.
Currently sub 100 across the whole business, looking to double in size over the next 12 months.
What You’ll Do:
- Build and lead the entire forward deployed engineering org from scratch
- Own the technical strategy for customer deployments applications and end to end delivery
- Partner directly with customers to scope architect and deliver high impact AI systems
- Turn cutting edge research into production systems and define how new model capabilities become real products
- Hire mentor and manage a high performing team of FDEs senior engineers and technical leads
- Establish the engineering culture operational foundations best practices and long term roadmap for applied AI
What We’re Looking For:
- Deep software engineering background Python TypeScript or similar
- Proven leadership experience managing teams owning org level execution and hiring
- Strong technical architecture skills across cloud hybrid environments and modern AI infra
- Experience shipping complex AI or ML driven systems into production
- Prior customer facing or delivery focused work FDE solutions deployment or similar
- High agency and comfort operating in fast agile environments
Salary : $400,000 - $600,000
