Responsibilities

The Patient Services Representative (PSR) serves as the first point of contact for patients and visitors, providing exceptional customer service and administrative support in a fast-paced medical office. This role is essential in ensuring a smooth patient experience from check-in to check-out, while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Greet patients and visitors warmly, ensuring a welcoming and professional environment.
  • Schedule, confirm, and manage patient appointments using electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Verify patient insurance coverage and obtain necessary authorizations or referrals.
  • Collect and process co-pays, deductibles, and outstanding balances.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and update demographic and insurance information.
  • Answer incoming calls, respond to inquiries, and route messages appropriately.
  • Assist with patient check-in and check-out procedures.
  • Coordinate with clinical staff to ensure timely patient flow.
  • Handle medical records requests in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Support administrative tasks such as scanning, faxing, and filing.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or medical office training preferred.
  • 4-5 years of relevant work experience.
  • Proficiency with EHR systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work in a team-oriented environment.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance processes is a plus.
  • Bilingual skills are a plus.

USD $21.00/Hr. USD $23.50/Hr.
