To ensure timely and accurate management of facility practitioners' credentialing files. Process initial and reappointment applications and provide credentialing resource services to facilities.
The Credentialing Specialist will function within SCA policies and procedures, Support SCA Values, SCA Vision and SCA Mission.
- Works in concert with the Regional Quality Coordinator, Facility CEO, to implement and direct the SCA Facility medical staff services and credentialing plan
- Working knowledge of medical staff services and credentialing processes, procedures and systems
- Working knowledge of internal and external credentialing resources and organizations such as accreditation and regulatory bodies, and medical staff services and credentialing organizations
- Knowledge of Facility Medical Staff Bylaws and Governing Body Bylaws, Facility Medical Staff Rules and Regulations, and Facility credentialing policies
- Maintain communication and direct networking via Internet, company Intranet, web-based and onsite conferences, email, phone with medical staff services and credentialing resources.
- Possess working knowledge and skills related to preparation, completion, and presentation of reports, related to Facility medical staff services and credentialing plan.
- Possess effective problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Possess effective communication and presentation skills for leading and directing committee and program activities
- Possess excellent organization and time management skills to complete job responsibilities and
- duties as directed.
- Ability to work in a demanding situation, changing focus of work due to changing priorities
- Regularly access internal and external medical staff services and credentialing resources to maintain professional knowledge
- CPCS (Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist) certification from the National Association of Medical Staff Services preferred
- Education, vocational training, and experience: High school diploma or equivalent required; professional with training/experience in medical staff services and credentialing for the ambulatory surgery setting;
- Licenses or Certifications: Certification (CPCS) preferred in medical staff services credentialing; active membership in professional credentialing association preferred
- Interpersonal Relationships: As a representative of Surgical Care Affiliates, all comments, attitudes, actions, and behaviors have a direct effect on the SCA's image and perceptions of quality service. Interaction with physicians, hospital affiliations, universities/schools, teammates, managers, etc. must be in a manner that is friendly, supportive, courteous, respectful, cooperative, and professional. Behavior should promote an atmosphere of teamwork, which is congruent with SCA standards and guidelines to promote positive relations.
- Internal relationships (works closely with): Facility CEOs, Regional Quality Coordinator, Physicians & their offices
- External relationships: Regulatory agencies, accreditation organizations, professional medical staff and credentialing organizations, Professional and State Medical and Clinical Licensing Associations, Other Clinical Professional Associations related to company medical staff disciplines
- Skills and Abilities: Initiative, good judgment, problem solving skills, decision making skills, strong organization skills, ability to prioritize activities, ability to function independently, effective teamwork skills, professionalism, excellent communication and presentation skills, ability to prepare organized reports, basic computer knowledge, Internet, and Intranet email access required.
