Human Resources Specialist
Primary Job Objective/Job Summary:
The Human Resources Specialist will support with the daily operations of SC Thrive's People Experience Department. This position will support with the consistent and effective application of policies, procedures, and practices of the department.
Essential Functions:
- Maintain strict confidentiality of all employee records, sensitive information, and organizational data to ensure trust and compliance with legal and ethical standards and SC Thrive policies.
- Oversee the talent acquisition process, which encompasses recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and onboarding qualified job candidates. Work closely with department managers to identify the necessary skills and competencies required for the roles.
- Coordinate temporary staff interviewing, hiring, and onboarding. Work closely with staffing agencies and department managers to identify the necessary skills and competencies required for the roles.
- Process background checks, set up drug screenings, conduct reference checks, and complete I-9 verifications for new SC Thrive employees.
- Conduct New Hire Orientation and facilitate trainings related to compliance.
- Draft policies and procedures in alignment with federal and state laws to support leadership initiatives.
- Distribute employee surveys to continually gather information to improve the onboarding process and enhance the overall employee experience.
- Assist with addressing employee questions concerning personnel matters.
- Assist with all HR processes, including documentation and training.
- Maintain employee personnel files in accordance with company policy and all applicable laws.
- Work closely with the Finance Department to audit timecards, process time off requests, verify employee benefits information, and provide other support to ensure payroll is ready to be processed.
- Handle benefit adjustments and support the annual open enrollment process.
- Handle terminations including notifying affected departments, conducting exit interviews, collecting equipment, and confirming access has been revoked.
- Actively participate in projects, events, cross-functional teams or workgroups that supports the work of SC Thrive.
- Other duties, as requested.
Qualifications and Experience Required:
- Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration or related field or commensurate experience.
- Minimum of 2 years of human resources experience.

Experience working with HCM systems, strong Microsoft skills including Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Teams.
- Driven desire to continuously learn and develop human resources knowledge, skills, and abilities.

- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications and Experience:
- SHRM (Society for Human Resource Management) certification
- Non-Profit experience a plus.
- Previous usage of technology programs Monday.Com, Paylocity, iSolved, Employee Navigator

Working Conditions and Physical Demands:
The job will usually be performed in a standard office environment. Occasional work outside standard business hours, including nights, overnights and weekends, may be required for special projects and events. Rarely travels and may occasionally work in outdoor weather conditions. Must be able to remain stationary 70% of the time. The individual in this job must occasionally move about inside the office to access filing cabinets, office equipment, etc. Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity equipment, such as calculators, printers, etc. Frequently positions themselves to maintain files in file cabinets. Consistently communicates information and ideas to others. Must be able to exchange accurate information in a manner others understand in these situations. Frequently observes details at close range (within a few feet of the observer). Occasionally moves boxes up to 20 pounds across the office for various purposes.
