The Upstate South Carolina facility has been in operation at this location since 1952.Job OverviewSets up, loads, operates, and unloads CNC equipment in a safe and efficient manner while maintaining high quality. Performs minor maintenance on equipment including operator Preventative Maintenance.Roles and ResponsibilitiesValidate CNC programsCreate CNC programs as necessaryOperate CNC equipment according to instructions and proceduresPerform quality checks on pieces completedEnsure that lots are completed in priority orderPerform material handling as necessary to load and unload equipmentPerform daily preventative maintenance and machine calibrationsIdentify priority order for production based on information provided by supervisorUse computer equipment to load programs into CNC equipment and validate programs prior to running each pieceCreate or edit programs at the CNC equipment control panel as necessaryOperate equipment according to procedures and instructionsUse tape measure and framing square to perform quality checks on pieces upon completionIdentify quality issues during first-off quality inspections and communicate with supervisors or QC to determine any corrective actionsPerform tool changes to accommodate different needs for production; maintain and rebuild tools as necessaryPerform inventory and production tracking transactions in the production control softwareUse material handling equipment (overhead cranes, roller conveyor, transfer arms) to move material into place for production and out of the equipment once the piece is completeAdditional ResponsibilitiesAbility to read and interpret Structural fabrication drawings.Agrees with and subscribes to and displays a commitment to SC Steels Core values.General Tools RequiredTape measures 30 ftFraming squareExperience: 1 -2 years operating CNC EquipmentEducation/TrainingHigh School Diploma or GEDDesired Traits:Working knowledge of computers and computer softwareGood mechanical aptitudeOrganizational skillsSelf starter- able to work alone and in groups as needed to accomplish goals.Additional ExpectationsSafety Our basic philosophy is to not take chances No amount of personal risk is worth any amount of production.Quality Focus on identifying root causes of malfunctions/breakages and put in place repairs that will eliminate recurrence.Communication Interface with supervisors and plant management to identify issues and report on successful completion of tasks.Equal Opportunity StatementSC Steel is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
