ABOUT THE ROLE
We're looking for an in-house estimator who understands how equestrian facilities are built and what discerning owners expect from them. This role starts part-time, three days a week in our Weatherford office, with room to grow. You'll own our bids from the first site walk to the final number, working directly with leadership and the field team. This role suits someone who knows the difference between a barn that looks good on paper and one that truly works for horses and the people who care for them.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
■ Build complete, accurate estimates from horse barns, covered and open arenas, full ranch development and related site work
■ Do quantity takeoffs from plans, sketches, and site visits, including projects where the client starts with only a vision
■ Price materials and subcontracted work (steel/metal buildings, concrete, dirt work, footing, electrical, plumbing) and keep supplier and sub pricing current
■ Walk sites to understand drainage, access, utilities, and how they plan to use the facility
■ Prepare polished bid packages and scopes, and help present them to clients
■ Hand off awarded projects to the field team with a clean budget and scope
■ Compare estimated and actual costs after each project and refine our pricing based on what you find
WHAT WE NEED
■ At least 3 years of estimating experience in residential, agricultural, or pre-engineered metal building construction
■ Experience estimating at least one equestrian project: barn, arena, or stall building
■ Ability to do takeoffs from construction drawings
■ Experience with takeoff or estimating software (Bluebeam, PlanSwift, STACK, or similar) and Excel
■ Valid driver's license and ability to travel to job sites across Texas
■ Available 3 days per week in our Weatherford office
NICE TO HAVE
■ Hands-on background with horses or in the equine industry (barn management, training, ranch work)
■ Knowledge of arena footing, stall systems, barn ventilation, and wash rack/drainage design
■ Experience with high-end custom or luxury construction clients
■ Field experience as a superintendent, project manager, or tradesperson
■ Existing relationships with metal building suppliers and Texas subcontractors
HOW TO APPLY
Apply through Indeed with your resume. If you can, include a short list of equestrian or ag projects you've estimated. Priority consideration given to applicants who email office@scbell.com directly
