Job Overview
Lab Services Tech - Laboratory hazardous waste management and collection. Supporting lab scientist with the following request: Provide lab waste container supply replenishment, proper chemical labeling, decontamination of lab equipment, chemical waste push carts and perform weekly checklist inspection of the lab satellite accumulation areas / exterior hazardous waste shed areas.

Education And/or Experience
High school diploma / GED
Experience working in a laboratory researcher and development (R&D) facility
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
May be required to have a valid driver’s license.
Complete all safety and task training
RCRA, DOT, HAZWOPER Certifications Preferred, But Not Required
Complete all safety, environmental and task training certifications assigned onsite
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Knowledge of machine cleaning methods and equipment and willing to share with team.
Knowledge of the upkeep and care of the machine equipment.
Knowledge of machine cleaning compounds and chemicals, and their safe, efficient use.
Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work efficiently in a fast-paced setting.
Working knowledge of MS Office, Word, and Excel office applications

Supporting lab scientist with the following request: Provide lab waste container supply replenishment, proper chemical labeling, decontamination of lab equipment, chemical waste push carts and perform weekly checklist inspection of the lab satellite accumulation areas / exterior hazardous waste shed areas.

To perform this job successfully and safely, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned.
- Use proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when performing daily routine of waste collection pick up from the labs
- Management of Hazardous Waste (HW) and Regulated Medical Waste (RMW) onsite
- Service all satellite waste accumulation areas to maintain in compliance with proper hazardous waste labeling requirements, limited storage time regulations onsite, proper chemical waste storage dedicated areas and segregation from incompatible materials
- Respond to special laboratory request for additional waste container replenishment or emergency lab chemical spills, eyewash station discharge, etc.
- Decontamination of dirty waste containers, lab instrumentation, chemical waste push carts, satellite waste accumulation areas, etc.
- Perform chemical liquid consolidation pour off into the drums at the central waste accumulation area for all accumulated hazardous waste prepping for a waste pick up scheduling
- Ensure all safety procedures are followed and maintaining a clean and safe working environment
- Perform weekly inventory of lab services supplies and keeping up to par levels
- Conduct weekly hazardous Central Waste Accumulation Area, and Satellite Waste Accumulation Area inspection checklist to maintain compliance and (GLP) Good Lab Practices.
- Report non-compliance lab findings and good catches on the 4insite application tool during lab route duties
- Contractor liaison management for preparing all hazardous and biological waste hauling offsite with Stericycle and Clean Harbors
- Transportation and proper install connection of gas cylinder lines into the regulator manifold systems at the gas rooms and lab work bench areas
- Transportation of (LN2) Liquid Nitrogen, (HE) Liquid Helium Dewars into the storage area and lab work areas
- Daily monitoring of gas systems usage and change out as needed
