Overview
This is a full-time, on-site role that bridges technical support and software development. The Technical Support Developer will work directly with clients to troubleshoot and resolve software issues, while also contributing to the development and maintenance of SBI's applications. This role is ideal for someone with a solid foundation in software development who enjoys working with clients and solving real-world problems — and who is excited to leverage modern AI coding tools to work smarter and faster. We are looking to onboard for this position in 4-6 weeks.

Duties

  • Engage with clients via chat to diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve software issues.
  • Use SQL and Claude Code to input, modify, and export data in support of client needs.
  • Develop and maintain features within SBI's desktop applications using Claude Code when possible and (WinForms/C#.NET) and web services (RESTful APIs).
  • Write project plans, feature specifications, and technical documentation in clear English.
  • Collaborate with the development team to identify root causes, resolve bugs, and deploy solutions.
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to continuous improvement of development processes.
  • Train new clients in how to use and operate SBI's software.
  • Manage project timelines and be available to answer client questions during assigned business hours.
  • Utilize AI coding tools (such as Claude AI, GitHub Copilot, or similar) to accelerate development, improve code quality, and support troubleshooting workflows.

Required Qualifications

  • Some professional or project-based experience with C# and the .NET framework (formal or self-taught welcome).
  • Working knowledge of SQL — ability to write and run queries to retrieve, update, and manage data.
  • Familiarity with RESTful APIs — understanding how to consume or build basic web services.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills — this role involves regular client interaction.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Comfortable using AI-assisted coding tools (e.g., Claude AI, GitHub Copilot) as part of a development workflow.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience with WinForms desktop application development.
  • Familiarity with Git for version control (branching, pulling, merging).
  • Experience with Azure DevOps or similar CI/CD pipelines.
  • Background in technical support, help desk, or client-facing software roles.
  • Business or accounting background — helpful for understanding our clients' workflows.
  • Scripting experience, particularly PowerShell.
  • MS Excel proficiency.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Green plant or nursery industry experience.
  • Spanish-language proficiency.
  • Experience with Developer Express (DevExpress) component suite.
  • Familiarity with modern front-end frameworks (React, Angular, Vue.js).

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field preferred — or equivalent practical experience.
  • 1–3 years of software development or technical support experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies quickly, including AI-assisted development tools.

Pay: $70,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
