A growing construction logistics company in Gary is seeking a Controller to own the accounting function while becoming a key partner to leadership on operational and financial improvement. The company has experienced solid growth and needs someone who can manage the day-to-day accounting needs while bringing greater structure, visibility, and efficiency to the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Own day-to-day accounting and financial operations.
- Oversee core accounting activities, including billing and accounts payable.
- Provide FP&A support for business and operational decisions.
- Establish and improve financial and operational processes.
- Partner with leadership to identify efficiencies and opportunities for improvement.
- Develop reporting and financial visibility to support continued growth.
- Evaluate and build out the accounting team as needed.
- Create scalable processes and infrastructure as the organization expands.
Qualifications
- Experience owning or leading an accounting function.
- Strong hands-on accounting foundation.
- Ability to provide financial analysis and actionable business insights.
- Experience improving processes and creating structure.
- Comfortable partnering closely with an operations-driven workforce.
- Transportation, trucking, or logistics experience preferred but not required.
- QuickBooks experience helpful.
- Ability to operate independently and build a team as needed.
Work Setup/Location
- Currently 100% onsite in Gary. Typical weeks are approximately 40 hours, with some additional hours during the busier season.
Salary : $120,000 - $145,000
