Job Title: PR Director

A luxury communications agency is seeking a seasoned and strategic Director to lead client accounts, drive integrated communications strategies, and mentor a growing team. With 6–7 years of fashion, lifestyle, or agency PR experience, the Director will serve as the senior point of contact for clients, providing counsel on brand positioning, reputation management, and media strategy. This in-person role is based in our New York City office five days a week and requires flexibility for nights and weekends to support client activations and events.

The ideal candidate is a proactive communicator, sharp strategist, and strong relationship-builder who thrives in fast-paced environments. This role combines high-level strategy with hands-on execution across media relations, influencer partnerships, crisis communications, campaign management, and business development.

Responsibilities and Qualifications:

Client Strategy & Leadership

  • Serve as strategic lead for clients, driving strategy sessions and leading the development of integrated strategy documents.
  • Act as senior counsel to clients, addressing needs thoughtfully, identifying opportunities, and ensuring delivery of impactful ROI.
  • Maintain a deep understanding of clients’ businesses and industries; proactively monitor news and trends to anticipate risks and opportunities, and advise clients and teams accordingly.
  • Drive go-to-market planning for new product collections, seasonal launches, and brand extensions.
  • Develop compelling product narratives—including positioning, messaging, claims, and educational content—that translate brand heritage into culturally relevant, resonant storytelling.
  • Leverage consumer insights, competitive analysis, and market trends to inform strategy and identify whitespace.
  • Proactively ideate big-picture campaigns and press opportunities by identifying and leveraging media trends.

Campaign Development & Execution

  • Oversee the planning and rollout of multi-channel marketing initiatives across paid media, PR, social, eCommerce, experiential, and brand partnerships.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to develop and execute 360° integrated campaigns.
  • Develop creative publicity initiatives to enhance awareness and elevate brand perception.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with media professionals to support PR objectives, including crafting and distributing press releases, media kits, and related materials.
  • Oversee paid influencer partnerships by negotiating contracts, ensuring briefs and deliverables are strategically aligned, and KPIs achieved.
  • Establish and track robust KPIs for campaigns, using analytics tools to assess performance, analyze ROI, and refine strategies as needed.

Reputation & Crisis Management

  • Serve as main contact for sensitive client problem-solving and crisis mitigation.
  • Lead crisis communication efforts, collaborating with client and agency teams to monitor sentiment, identify risks, craft messaging strategies, and manage reputation.

Leadership & Team Development

  • As part of the Senior Leadership Team, contribute to building company culture, improving morale, managing workload, and driving overall growth.
  • Oversee and mentor a team of PR professionals, fostering a collaborative, high-performance work environment.
  • Develop direct reports through clear career development plans, stretching assignments, and ongoing coaching.
  • Build effective teams by fostering strong morale, encouraging open dialogue, celebrating wins, and creating a sense of belonging and accountability.

Business Development

  • Contribute to business development by pitching new clients and expanding existing relationships.
  • Support strategic development for organic and new business growth through deck creation, client presentations, and strategic counsel.

Operational Excellence

  • Support the team with tactical news creation and problem solving.
  • Drive the roll-out of client strategies, ensuring deadlines are met and ROI delivered.
  • Monitor budgets and resource allocation to optimize efficiency and outcomes.
  • Contribute to the development of standard operating procedures to evolve and improve team processes.

Qualifications

  • 6–7 years of experience in public relations, communications, or related fields (fashion, lifestyle, or agency experience strongly preferred).
  • Proven track record of managing client accounts and leading strategic communications campaigns.
  • Strong relationships with media, influencers, and industry partners.
  • Demonstrated expertise in crisis communications and reputation management.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and presentation skills.
  • Experience managing budgets, setting KPIs, and analyzing ROI.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience mentoring and developing high-performing teams.
  • Proficient in PR and analytics platforms (e.g., Launchmetrics, Muck Rack, Cision, Google Analytics, and Microsoft Office Suite).

Work Environment

  • This is an in-person role based out of our NYC office, five days a week.
  • Requires flexibility for nights and weekends to support client events, activations, and deadlines.
  • Fast-paced, team-oriented, and highly collaborative environment.
