Job Title: Associate Designer / Designer – Swimwear (Target Private Label)

Position Overview

We are seeking a trend-driven and highly creative Associate Designer or Designer to join our Swimwear team focused on the Target private label business. This role will support the Design Director and collaborate closely with a small, agile team of designers to create compelling swim collections for women’s and junior categories. The ideal candidate is a strong problem-solver with a sharp eye for emerging trends, commercial product sensibility, and the ability to balance creativity with retailer-specific customer needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Research and identify emerging fashion, color, print, fabric, and silhouette trends relevant to the Target customer
• Design and develop swimwear collections for women’s and junior private label programs
• Create CADs, technical sketches, colorways, and presentation boards
• Partner with cross-functional teams including merchandising, product development, and production to execute seasonal assortments
• Interpret trend direction into commercially viable product solutions aligned with Target brand strategies
• Maintain awareness of market competition and consumer preferences
• Support fittings, sample reviews, and design revisions throughout development
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Contribute creative solutions and problem-solving throughout the design process
  
  

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design or related field
• Associate Designer: 2–4 years of experience
• Designer: 4 years of experience, preferably in swimwear or women’s apparel
• Strong understanding of trends, color, print, and fabric direction
• Experience designing for private label and/or major retailers preferred, especially Target
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to adapt quickly to business needs
• Proficient in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and Microsoft Office
• Excellent communication, organization, and collaboration skills
• Ability to work effectively within a small team environment

Salary $75,000-$105,000 BOE
