As part of that growth, we have intentionally expanded one ministry position into two full-time leadership positions: Communications Minister and Media & Technology Minister. The Communications Minister will inherit a strong foundation while having the opportunity to shape and develop a comprehensive communication strategy for the future. MeadowBrook has established digital, print, social media, and other communication platforms, along with staff and creative resources to support them. We are looking for a leader who can bring these resources together with greater strategy, coordination, consistency, and creativity as we communicate with our congregation, community, and beyond.
Just as importantly, the person joining us will become part of a ministry staff that genuinely enjoys serving together. Our ten-person ministry team currently averages 13 years of service at MeadowBrook. We value faithful ministry, healthy relationships, fellowship, and longevity, and we are seeking new ministry partners who love Christ, enjoy serving alongside others, and desire to make a gospel impact locally and globally.
MeadowBrook has intentionally positioned the Communications Ministry not simply to promote what the church is doing, but to tell the story of what God is doing through his church, connect people with ministry opportunities, and strengthen MeadowBrook’s gospel witness for years to come.
Job Summary
MeadowBrook is seeking a ministry-minded communications leader to provide strategic leadership and oversight for the church’s internal and external communications. This person will lead the strategy, systems, content, and processes that help MeadowBrook communicate with clarity, consistency, and creativity.
Working collaboratively with the senior pastor, pastors, ministry staff, administrative staff, and graphic artist, the Communications Minister will develop and coordinate a comprehensive church-wide communication strategy. The minister will help ensure that MeadowBrook’s mission, ministries, opportunities, and message are communicated effectively to our congregation, community, and beyond.
This person should understand communication not simply as promoting events and ministries, but as a means of helping people connect with Christ and his church, grow as disciples who make disciples, and engage in missions, ministry, and worship, all to the glory of God.
Primary Responsibilities
Strategic Communication Leadership – Develop, implement, and regularly evaluate a comprehensive church-wide communication strategy. Establish communication priorities, standards, schedules, and processes that help MeadowBrook communicate as one church. Anticipate communication needs and coordinate the timing, audience, medium, and presentation of significant ministry communication.
Church-Wide Coordination – Serve as the central coordinator for MeadowBrook’s major internal and external communications. Maintain a church-wide communications and promotional calendar and manage appropriate processes for requests, deadlines, prioritization, approval, and distribution. Work proactively with ministry leaders to plan communication for events, initiatives, seasonal emphases, ministry opportunities, and gospel messaging.
Digital and Print Communication – Provide leadership and oversight for MeadowBrook’s website, email, text messaging, social media, church database, digital forms and registrations, print materials, signage, and other communication platforms. Ensure that information is current, accurate, accessible, and appropriate for the intended audience.
Content and Creative Direction – Develop and oversee written, graphic, photographic, and video content that communicates the church’s message and ministry. Work collaboratively with MeadowBrook’s graphic artist to develop creative materials and maintain consistency in the church’s voice, visual identity, branding, and quality across communication platforms. Lead and coordinate volunteers, contractors, and other creative resources as appropriate.
Congregational, Guest, and Community Communication – Help the MeadowBrook faith family understand what is happening in the life of the church, why it matters, and how they can participate without overwhelming them with competing messages. Evaluate communication to ensure that essential information and pathways for engagement are clear and accessible.
Promotion and Advertising – Develop appropriate promotional and advertising strategies for ministries, events, worship opportunities, and community outreach. Coordinate organic and paid media as appropriate and evaluate their effectiveness.
Staff Support and Communication Systems – Work with pastors, staff, and ministry leaders to improve communication effectiveness through appropriate processes, standards, training, and resources. Lead the effective use of MeadowBrook’s church management database and related communication systems, including datasets, workflows, forms, registrations, and analytics.
Special Communication – Work with the senior pastor and appropriate staff to communicate promptly and clearly during emergencies, schedule changes, significant church developments, or other situations requiring coordinated communication.
Ministry Expectations And Qualifications
Because this is a ministerial position, the Communications Minister should view communication as an extension of MeadowBrook’s ministry, not just a professional or technical function. The minister should participate appropriately in the membership and life of MeadowBrook, build healthy relationships with staff and church members, demonstrate a servant’s heart, protect confidentiality, and represent Christ and MeadowBrook well.
The Communications Minister Should
– Have a growing relationship with Jesus Christ and a clear calling to ministry, and align with MeadowBrook Church’s beliefs, mission, and ministry philosophy.
– Possess a bachelor’s degree in communications or a related field and relevant experience, preferred.
– Demonstrate excellent writing, editing, interpersonal, and digital communication skills, along with strong visual judgment and the ability to work effectively with creative professionals.
– Think strategically about communication while also possessing the ability to carry projects through to completion.
– Demonstrate strong attention to detail, accuracy, organization, initiative, creativity, and sound judgment.
– Be comfortable learning and utilizing church database systems, websites, email and social media platforms, calendars, forms, project-management tools, and emerging communication technologies.
– Manage multiple projects, ministries, priorities, and deadlines while working collaboratively with pastors, staff, volunteers, church members, and community contacts.
– Be willing to relocate to the Gadsden, Alabama area.
Compensation And Benefits
MeadowBrook is committed to providing competitive compensation and a strong benefits package for this full-time ministerial position. Benefits include health insurance, employer matching contributions of up to 5% to a 403(b) retirement plan, paid vacation and leave accrual, and paid holidays. The salary range is $65,000-$70,000 depending on experience. Complete benefit information will be discussed with qualified candidates during the interview process.
