What are the responsibilities and job description for the Church Plant Resident position at SBC Executive Committee?
The Foundation Church church planting residency is a 9–12 month bi-vocational ministry residency designed to prepare future church planters, replanters, and pastors for faithful ministry leadership.
The Residency Combines
For residents pursuing church planting, our desire is to prepare them for the Send Network assessment and endorsement process when appropriate.
However, Send Network endorsement is not the only definition of success.
If a resident faithfully completes the program and is called to serve as a pastor in an existing church, Foundation Church will also consider that a successful residency outcome.
Success is not simply planting a church. Success is developing and sending a healthy pastor.
WHY A RESIDENCY?
Church planting cannot be learned only in a classroom.
Future pastors need theology, character, ministry experience, missionary instincts, leadership opportunities, and trusted pastors who will walk with them through the process.
The Residency Is Designed To Help Residents
A Foundation Church Resident Is Someone Who Senses a Possible Call Toward Pastoral Ministry, Church Planting, Or Church Replanting And Is Willing To Enter The Residency As

- Supervised ministry
- Direct pastoral coaching
