Key Responsibilities:
- Safety Program Management
- Coordinate with the Safety Manager to develop, implement, and maintain safety policies, procedures, and training programs in compliance with OSHA regulations and company standards
- Support the continuous improvement of safety systems to reduce workplace risk and prevent injuries
- Assist in updating safety manuals, procedures, and documentation to reflect operational and regulatory changes
- Audits, Inspections & Risk Assessments
- Support the Safety Manager in conducting routine safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments across manufacturing and warehouse operations
- Identify workplace hazards, unsafe behaviors, and environmental risks
- Recommend engineering, administrative, and PPE controls to mitigate risk and improve safety performance
- Incident Investigations & Corrective Actions
- Assist with incident investigations, including data collection, employee interviews, root cause analysis, and documentation
- Support the development, implementation, and tracking of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)
- Partner with leadership teams to ensure timely resolution of safety findings and risk concerns
- Training & Employee Engagement
- Deliver and support employee training on equipment safety, PPE usage, emergency response procedures, lockout/tagout, and safe work practices
- Maintain accurate safety training records, certifications, and compliance documentation
- Participate in and help facilitate safety committee meetings to engage production, warehouse, and maintenance teams in safety initiatives
- Compliance & Documentation
- Maintain accurate and organized records of incidents, inspections, training, OSHA logs, SDS documentation, and regulatory reports
- Ensure proper handling, storage, labeling, and disposal of hazardous materials (HazMat) in compliance with applicable regulations
- Stay current with changes in occupational health and safety regulations, industry best practices, and emerging workplace risks
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Collaborate with the Safety Manager, HR, Production, Maintenance, and Operations teams to support return-to-work programs, injury case management, and workers' compensation processes
- Promote and reinforce a proactive safety culture across all departments and shifts through engagement, communication, and continuous improvement efforts
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Safety Manager or executive leadership
Qualifications:
- Associate's degree in occupational health & safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Minimum of 1-2 years of safety management experience in a manufacturing or warehouse environmen
- Skills & Competencies
- OSHA 10 certification desired; First Aid, BLS or similar credential is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA, DOT, EPA, and other applicable safety regulations
- Experience with safety management systems (SMS), incident tracking, and reporting tools.
- Effective communication, leadership, and training skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment with a hands-on approach.
- The ability to always perform functions in a safe manner.
