Pay $18.50

SUMMARY This hands-on position is ideal for college students pursuing careers in healthcare, nursing, medicine, or public health. Under the supervision of clinical staff, you will gain valuable experience in outpatient care and patient interaction while supporting day-to-day clinical operations.

Job Duties & Essential Functions

  • Assist in ensuring patients are seen promptly in exam rooms at our outpatient facility.
  • Help prepare exam rooms and equipment for patient procedures.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly environment before and after exams or procedures.
  • Take and document patient vital signs and intake information.
  • Enter patient data into the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system accurately.
  • Review patient charts and prepare necessary paperwork for clinical staff and patients.
  • Collect basic specimens, such as urine samples, as needed.
  • Support supply management by helping to track and order materials for patient care.
  • Perform other supportive clinical tasks as assigned.


Required Education & Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • Must be enrolled as a current student at Stony Brook University.
  • Letter of recommendation.
  • Must have excellent communication skills.
  • Ideal for Pre-med, pre-nursing, or public health students seeking real-world clinical exposure in a professional healthcare setting.


Preferred Qualifications

  • experience using an electronic medical record, knowledge of medical terminology.


Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate with patients, staff and medical providers. The employee must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations. This position is largely sedentary and requires the employee to remain stationary for a majority of the day. Any additional physical demands will be outlined and provided by management.
