Job Responsibilities And Opportunities Include
- Teaching Middle and Upper School Spanish offerings that may include levels 6th, 7th, and 8th grade through Spanish II. Higher levels may be added.
- Curriculum development and curricular expertise
- Some years, teaching a Pre-Spanish 1 class for students with diagnosed learning differences
- Working with a group of advisees and supporting the social-emotional needs of students
- Understanding the impact of different learning profiles on language teaching, expertise in differentiating within the classroom, and knowledge in supporting students with diagnoses of Specific Learning Disability in Reading (or Dyslexia), Giftedness, ADHD, or other needs established in an ILP
- Developing and expanding the Spanish program, including:
- Promoting knowledge of the Spanish language and the diversity of cultures in the Spanish-speaking world
- Recruiting students to the Spanish program at all levels
- Working collaboratively with the team of World Language teachers and other colleagues
- Writing narrative comments about students at the conclusion of each term
- Serving on committees and occasional supervision or other duties around the school
