High School Assistant Cheer Coach

Position Title: Assistant High School Cheer Coach
Location: Saydel High School
Stipend: 6% of Schedule B
Reports To: Activities Director and Head Cheer Coaches

Position Summary

The Assistant High School Cheer Coach supports the successful operation of the Saydel High School cheer program by assisting with both the fall cheer season and winter cheer season (basketball and wrestling). This individual will work under the direction of the designated head cheer coaches and assist in supervising student-athletes while promoting school spirit, safety, sportsmanship, and positive representation of Saydel High School.

Essential Responsibilities

• Assist head cheer coaches with the planning, organization, and execution of fall and winter cheer activities.
• Support cheer practices, game-day preparation, performances, and competitions/events as assigned by the head coaches.
• Help supervise cheerleaders before, during, and after all home and away athletic events.
• Coordinate attendance, communication, and logistics for cheerleaders participating in assigned events.
• Transport cheerleaders to away events by safely operating district-approved auxiliary vehicles.
• Ensure all athletes are picked up or safely dismissed following events and practices.
• Maintain appropriate supervision of students while traveling and at event locations.
• Reinforce expectations related to sportsmanship, behavior, attendance, and team conduct.
• Assist with distributing uniforms, equipment, and spirit materials as needed.
• Promote school spirit and positive crowd engagement while maintaining professionalism.
• Communicate effectively with head coaches, athletes, parents, transportation staff, and administration.
• Follow all district, conference, and state association policies and procedures.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Activities Director or head cheer coaches.

Qualifications

• Previous cheer coaching, cheer participation, dance, gymnastics, or related experience preferred.
• Ability to effectively supervise high school students in both practice and event settings.
• Must be eligible and approved to drive district auxiliary vehicles for transportation purposes.
• CPR/First Aid certification preferred (or willingness to obtain).
• Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
