POSITION PROFILE:
The Senior Director of Grant Management manages, writes, and submits complex grant proposals with emphasis on government and major funding opportunities. A proven track record of successfully managing high-profile grant proposals ranging from $200K to several million dollars is required. The Senior Director must be well-experienced effectively leading the entire grants lifecycle including inquiry, application, final submission, award negotiation and administration, and closeout. Key strengths: ability to prospect and present funding opportunities that align with agency strategic plan, drive collaborative efforts for well-articulated innovative and clear program design. Skilled in implementing and optimizing grant management systems including Raiser’s Edge and instrumental platforms.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Functions as primary writer and project lead for grant/contract proposals across a wide range of programs greater than $200K. The target scope of work is government and major funding opportunities, consisting of both restricted and unrestricted funding opportunities. Creates compelling proposals, gathers and synthesizes data from program and administrative staff, and produces submission-ready documents for senior management reviews.
- Responsible for effective prospecting of potential funding opportunities rooted in both agency needs, diversifying funding streams and innovation. Identifying and cultivating new funding opportunities to increase sustainability and alignment with funding priorities and goals.
- Leads overall grant strategy and proposal development process and final electronic submissions, ensuring accuracy, timeliness and completeness of the final documents.
- Manages calendar of all prospective and active grant proposals such as RFB bidder conferences, LOIs, applications, proposals, and reports.
- Manages reporting requirements of all grants and supports others as needed to report on public
- grants and contracts.
- Trains and coaches SAY grant writing staff for cohesive approach and production with full grant writing protocols, processes, and platforms used from prospecting to submissions.
- Chairs Champion’s Committee comprised of management who have a desire to develop strong working knowledge of proposal processes, SAY funding priorities, and to build understanding of prospecting, program design, budgeting and proposal development.
- Serve as the agency liaison for all external grant writers and consultants retained.
- Builds a calendar of funding priorities for each fiscal year, in collaboration with the Executive Team.
- Informs and oversees grants strategy each fiscal year aligning funding opportunities with mission and strategic plan priorities.
QUALIFICATIONS (Education, Experience and Certifications):
- Requires a BA/BS Public Administration, Non-Profit Management, or other related degree
- Five to ten (5-10) years of experience in winning government grants and contracts, major state and national awards. Requires submitting major ($200,000 or higher) government grant applications using platforms/tools such as BuyNET, Grants.gov, JustGrants, eRA Commons, and similar.
- Possesses excellent, persuasive written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven track record in conducting research on grant opportunities/prospects.
- Demonstrated experience conducting research and developing ideas for program models and evidence-based practices
- Possesses subject matter expertise to train, coach and provide technical assistance to grant writing staff, consultants, and internal groups interested in understanding procurement in the non-profit arena.
