Role Overview
We are seeking an API Architect to support a critical resiliency and auto-failover initiative. This role focuses on making Spring Boot APIs resilient by enabling automatic failover without manual intervention. The engineer will participate in technical requirements-gathering sessions, implement resiliency patterns, and support traffic management across critical systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and support Spring Boot-based microservices for large, complex processing systems.
- Participate in technical requirements-gathering sessions focused on resiliency and availability improvements.
- Implement application-level resiliency patterns to support automatic failover.
- Design and operate F5 BIG-IP GTM/DNS and LTM configurations for high-availability, multi-data-center traffic management.
- Create and manage WideIPs as the single DNS entry point for applications.
- Configure Extended Content Verification (ECV) monitors to perform application-aware health checks.
- Build and maintain GTM pools with defined failover and failback behavior.
- Design and manage LTM virtual servers (VIPs) and pools for local load balancing.
- Test and validate DNS-based automatic failover using real-time health signals.
- Tune monitoring thresholds and timers to prevent false failovers and traffic flapping.
- Support production incidents, change management activities, and disaster recovery exercises.
- Standardize configurations, documentation, and operational practices across environments.
Required Qualifications
Technical Skills:
- Java and Spring Boot microservices development in large-scale distributed systems.
- API resiliency, traffic management, and DNS-based failover (F5 GTM/LTM).
- Experience with streaming platforms and enterprise DevOps fundamentals.
- Deep F5 GTM/LTM expertise combined with application-aware health monitoring and DNS-based failover design.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in regulated or large-scale enterprise environments.
- Familiarity with automation tools (Ansible/Terraform) for F5 configurations.
- Exposure to observability tools for metrics, logs, and synthetic checks.
