Position Summary
We are seeking a detail‑oriented and proactive Litigation Paralegal with 3–5 years of experience in Connecticut state and federal courts to support a busy litigation practice. Experience in New York and Massachusetts courts will also be considered. This role is ideal for a paralegal who takes ownership of their work, and brings a strong foundation in multi‑jurisdictional litigation support. The Paralegal will support multiple attorneys and work collaboratively with other paralegals to ensure efficient case management and high‑quality client service.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft, review, and file litigation documents, including pleadings, complaints, summonses, subpoenas, and discovery requests and responses
- Manage and maintain litigation calendars, ensuring compliance with state court rules and federal court deadlines
- Electronically file documents in Connecticut state courts and federal courts using CM/ECF
- Conduct legal research related to court rules, procedures, filing requirements, and jurisdiction‑specific practices
- Communicate professionally with attorneys, clients, court personnel, opposing counsel, and vendors
- Organize, maintain, and manage case files using a document management system
- Assist attorneys with trial, arbitration, and hearing preparation, including exhibit coordination, witness preparation, and logistics
- Support discovery and e‑discovery efforts, including document organization, review coordination, and production
- Work independently and collaboratively to manage multiple matters
- Maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion with sensitive information
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3–5 years of litigation paralegal experience
- Demonstrated experience in Connecticut state and federal courts
- Experience in New York and Massachusetts courts preferred
- Strong knowledge of court procedures, filing requirements, and calendaring rules
- Proficiency with electronic filing systems
- Experience with document management systems (NetDocuments preferred)
- Experience with discovery, e‑discovery processes and e-discovery platforms (Everlaw preferred)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and problem‑solving ability
- Ability to manage competing deadlines in a fast‑paced environment
- Willingness to work overtime as needed
