Currently Casting for SAW the Musical: The Unauthorized Parody of SAW.

SAW the Musical: The Unauthorized Parody of SAW first opened with a bang in Philadelphia in 2022 for an out-of-town tryout, which, following its immediate success, opened off-Broadway in 2023. SAW the Musical hasn’t taken a break since, and has been produced all around the country, making audiences laugh, cry, and scream. The story takes place in the iconic filthy bathroom with Lawrence Gordon and Adam Faulkner-Stanheight, both chained to a wall. With nothing but a Tape recorder, a revolver, and their memories, are they able to escape before the time runs out? With the brilliant book written by Zoe Jordan and direction by Stephanie Rosenberg, this incredible piece shines true down to the bone and makes you want to be chained up with them. It is a forbidden love story with fluidity and lots of fluids. As the clock counts down, what will they discover, how did they end up here, and will they do what it takes to escape? Although the source material is intense, this is a musical comedy with dark and strong sexual humor. The show contains explicit content and language as well as simulated gore and a sharp jigsaw blade. Please be advised.

NOTE: Only submit if you have local housing in one or more of those cities. If you have housing in more than one city, please make that known in your submission. These stops typically last a minimum of 4 weeks or more per location, and you must provide your own housing and transportation, as it is local hire.

Rehearsals will start June 13, 2026, in New York City, and will last for two weeks approximately.

Rehearsals are paid, and the performance rate depends on the city, but comes out to about $500/week and is paid per performance on a weekly schedule.

Character info:

[ AMANDA YOUNG / JOHN KRAMER / ALISON GORDON ]: 18-35 years old, all ethnicities, female presenting. 4’10” to 5’11” in height. Mezzo-Soprano: Mix and Belt, strong singer recommended. Looking for a versatile actor who is able to switch characters quickly and accurately, with strong suggestions from Shawnee Smith (AMANDA YOUNG), Tobin Bell (JOHN KRAMER), and Monica Porter (ALISON GORDON). A strong knowledge of the horror movie SAW is recommended and encouraged, as well as a knowledge of puppetry, but not required. Amanda Young is a strongly willed drug addict who is the only person who has ever escaped a saw trap. She is calculated and intense and is tired of being thrown in the shadows. John Kramer is a calculated serial killer, even though he doesn’t think of himself as one, who follows certain rules to show people that they need to “Live the life they love”. Alison Gordon is a wife to Lawrence Gordon, and a mother to Diana Gordon, who is a momma bear to the core, and is not afraid to kick and punch to protect what she loves. [ DR. LAWRENCE GORDON / ZEPP HINDLE ] {LEAD}: 25-45 years old, all ethnicities, male presenting. 5’9” to 6’3” in height. Tenor: High B5 falsetto, Bb4 belt. This is a very physically and vocally demanding role, and we are looking for a strong actor who can take this head-on, and also execute a strong impersonation of Cary Elwes (LAWRENCE GORDON) from the 2004 SAW film. Dr. Gordon is a narcissistic cancer specialist who attempts to treat John Kramer of his stage 4 cancer, and fails. He is an attractive man with a wife and a daughter, but loyalty isn’t his strongest attribute. Disclaimer: This role has sexually explicit content, simulated gore, utilizes a sharpened Jigsaw to cut through wooden dowels, and contains a male-on-male kiss.

[ ADAM FAULKNER-STANHEIGHT / DIANA GORDON ]: 18-35 years old, all ethnicities, male presenting. 5’ 5” to 6’ in height. Baritone/Tenor. This role does not need to be a strong singer, but preferably able to harmonize and hold a tune. Looking for a strong actor who has a strong sense of comedy and timing, as well as a strong impression of Leigh Whannell (ADAM STANHEIGHT) from the 2004 SAW film. Adam is an exhibitionist who is not a stranger to orgies, as well as a punk who lives in a run-down apartment on his own. He is a professional photographer who is hired to take pictures of high-profile people who participate in illegal activities. He is often referred to as a whiny or angry twink by others, despite his not agreeing. Disclaimer: This role has sexually explicit content, simulated gore, and contains a male-on-male kiss.
